The South County Fireman's Cook-Off Committee would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the event. Especially to the Firefighters who cooked all that mouth watering meat for us. Thank you to our sponsors, judges, the committee, and the public for coming out.
We're all very happy that this first year event turned out to be a great success. We got great support from five volunteer Fire Departments, including Myrtle Creek, Canyonville, Riddle, Tri City, and North Douglas. Next year we may look at expanding the Cook-Off to include all Douglas County Fire Departments.
Congratulations to Canyonville for winning the overall Championship. They did this by placing first in the Tri-Tip category, first in the Pork Ribs category, and third in the Chicken Category. Their Fire Department will get to keep the Grand Championship Trophy for an entire year!
Already, lots of people have expressed ideas for making next year's event bigger and better. See you then.
