Citizens and Board Members of the Tri-City Citizens Alliance attended the monthly meeting of the Douglas County Commissioners today at 9:00 A.M.. The Commissioners addressed their usual busy agenda but invited members of the audience to voice their concerns about differnt issues after the agenda items were dealt with. A speaker from"Americans for Prosperity" made an impressive appeal on excessive taxation, then, our chairman, Dan Wiggins, was given the microphone. He presented our informal petition and listed the grievances of our membership in a prepared speech about annexation by the City of Myrtle Creek. He then requested the Commissioners support our position. Commissioner Susan Morgan acknowledged our request and asked our members to meet with her and the Director of Planning, Keith Cubic, after the formal Commissioners meeting.

Dan Wiggins, Gerry Heilman, Carl White, Ron Gregg and his wife Linda then met with Susan Morgan and Keith Cubic in an adjacent office.  Two Board Members and other Citizens excused themselves after attending the formal meeting. Mr. Cubic began the meeting with his acknowledgement that Aaron Cubic was his son, but that he, himself, is a County Employee and that is where his loyalties lie. Both Mr. Cubic and Susan Morgan listened intently to our list of grievances and Keith Cubic was given the task of researching the issues. He and Susan Morgan were invited to attend our next general meeting on June 9th and the offer was to be passed on to both Doug Robertson and Joseph Laurance. It is unlikely that the three could attend together without proper notification to the public, but hopefully, at least Mr. Cubic and Susan will be able to attend and report on their progress.
